For people who have already downloaded the Toolset, an AutoUpdate option is available from the Start menu. For first time users, the download link contains the latest version. After registering for the forum, a topic, containing the download link will be displayed. the following functionality has been added:

Change Database Location

Enables user to change the location of the database. Functionality found under the Tools menu. Before changing the location through the application, first move the database file, located under the program directory, to the desired location, then change through the applicaction. The database connection is now stored in the DatabaseConnection.xml file located in the Program directory. If for some reason you have problems moving the database, you can reset the application to the default database location by clearing any data contained within this file.

NOTE: The application uses MS Access, so rules following concurrent connections, etc.. apply.

Basic Help file

Not much, but a start. Please feel free to add suggestions, content, etc..

Report Format

Changed to make more readable. Added project name to report output.

Bug Fixes

Duplicate IA Controls, Import/Export error--thanks to all that submitted

This new version has fixed some big bug problems. Works much better now. However, I still get a nagging problem now and then. On openning a project file I notice that sometimes the default implmentation text gets loaded and sometimes it does not. I have tried to localize when I can expect this happening and have had no luck. It appears totally random. One day it works and one day it doesn't. This is not something that is a major problem but just a burr on the back side.

Cheers
Vern

Will take a look into the problem. We are making some modifications the Implementation Plan and ScoreCard right now, so will track it down. We plan on creating relationships between the DIP and ScoreCard so that when the DIP status is marked as deferred, the ScoreCard automatically marks the compliance status as Non-Comply w/o user interaction.

One thing we are still discussing is inheritance. If the DIP status is "Inherited" should the ScoreCard default to N/A or Comply, or not do anything. Would appreciate thoughts on the subject.

I believe that if the DIP status is inherited then marking 'comply' would be the way to proceed.

Any idea when the upgrades to allow comments in the POA&M/Scorecard and larger System Description field will be finished.  I'm waiting on the upgrades in order to finish the transition from DITSCAP.  Thanks.

We are shooting for a 27 April release. Please keep in mind that the System Description field size is contrained by MS Access, and the current setting is as large as it can go.

We are moving as fast as we can. We have multiple feature requests and a new help system that we are trying to implement. The last round of Beta testing should occur this week.

Could you make the update, available for download for those who do not have internet connection to the system with the tool loaded?

Some wierd things with the interface:

  • does not have a open project in the left tab when you highlight a specific project.
  • would like to be able to print or save the full summary (all the charts as shown on the screen).
  • when in the scorecard, i select a IA control and in the POA&M column change to "yes", it then does not allow me to enter data into the POA&M row. --totally random--
  • POA&M only shows one at a time in the button window, but when you print or save, it shows the entire list. Would like to see the entire list or have the IA controls rows highlighted with a unique color for those in the POA&M.
  • As a default the score card has all items in the IA control set. The score card should be built from the implementation plan, and maybe have a tab for the IA controls.
  • on the scorecard the status defaults to "comply", should be "non comply" until specifically changed. (exception for inherited items, if the hierarchical model is chosen inherited controls should gain the compliance of the parent)
  • When hierarchical model is done, there should be an overall compliance and the parent should inherit the overall of all childs. (So if one child is non-compliant, the parent is non-compliant)

Not sure why but some of these are random.

I really like the tool and hope it continues on track.

If not you, then who!
